Encounters are the main content of Peglin, and house various enemies, events, and chests that the player can find.

The map for the Forest

Every location on the map is considered an encounter, which can be divided into one of five categories:

Fights

Regular skulls mark an enemy encounter, and will spawn a random group of said enemies as well as generate a board from the enemy pool.

Elite Fights

Red Skulls mark a miniboss encounter. These house strong, unique enemies that will give the player a challenge. Additionally, completing such an encounter grants the player one of two relics to choose from.

Boss

Boss Fights will always appear at the very end of each area, and have their own unique icon to denote which boss will spawn. Defeating a boss lets the player choose one of three boss relics.

Mystery

Mystery spaces are denoted a question mark (?) on the map, and will be a random event, enemy encounter, or chest. This is the only encounter icon that can result in Events.

In Cruciball 2 or higher, miniboss can appear as well.

Chest

Chests are marked by the chest icon, and will give the player a random relic that can aid their journey. The player can also choose to skip the relic if they want.
